I want to start off by saying, I am leaving for my own reasons, Munchy deserves the world, and I hope that reading this will entice people to stay, rather than to leave.
This past year has been the hardest time of my life, for the most obvious reasons. Having no one to speak to, no friends to hang out with, nothing to do, the loneliness broke me. I need social interaction to survive, I was so lost, so broken, but then I discovered munchy. Oddly my favorite gamemode was KitPVP, but hilariously, I couldn’t kill anyone. I was so bad, but I kept playing because something strange kept me there. I learned that be having no intentions to win, I never got mad at losing. As I played more, I grew to love the playerbase, while kitpvp is often ridiculed for it’s toxicity, I never saw it. With nothing to do, I joined the discord, I started interacting, I felt so connected While it seems crazy, just being apart of the community made me feel seen, it made me feel not alone.
One day I decided to go on purgatory, my world was changed. A server filled with cheaters, no moderation, no filter, a blank slate. I loved it, I felt a urge to give back, to feel needed. I made so many hacker reports I annoyed the staff, and I never stopped, it was genuinely fun, and from that grew many friendships within the staff team. With nothing left to lose I spent all my time on munchy, and it gave back to me with friends, purpose, entertainment, etc. I couldn’t ask for more.
If you ever need a community to join, Munchymc is the best.
The reason I am leaving is my real life. I have an awesome Boyfriend who means the world to me, I have a good job, I got accepted to a good college. The loneliness which I had is gone. I wanted to share my experience in order make this goodbye productive.
No matter the drama, fights, disagreements, or whatnot, we are all people who’s presence is proof of our humanity. Even the most toxic players have their own story and set of problems. You can never know, so by giving more than you get, we can support people the way this server has for me.
