Prerequisite checklist:
- Have you been a regular player on MunchyMC for at least one month?: Way past only one month, been around for 2-3 years now!
- Do you have Discord downloaded and are competent with the software?: I’ve had discord for almost six years now, built and managed a fair amount of small servers too so I think I’m pretty competent with it!
Application
IGN: MindSongs
Age: 23
Timezone: EST
Languages spoken: English (Fluent) Some knowledge of Italian & French
Server(s) you are interested in moderating: GameMaker
How active can you be per week? Baseline I can dedicate 2-3 hours a day currently, so I’d say that’s fairly active.
Do you have any punishments on our network? If so, please describe the steps you have taken to improve as a community member since your punishments: A few mutes for spam, which was silly of me and I tend not to push chat limits anymore. Unsure if this is needed, but I had one false-ban a few years ago and I don’t know if that was scrubbed or not, but it did happen and I prefer to be honest.
Have you applied for a role on Munchy before? If so, please explain the steps you have taken to improve as an applicant since your last application: I have applied for Co-Host on event before last year, around September I think? Originally I didn’t get the position, instead I was offered EBuilder. Eventually I was offered to become a Co-Host after being active and contributing to the Event server by building a bunch of new events!
What do you think your reputation is like within the community? I think I can be considered decent at the least. I don’t like to inflate my own ego, I just try to be kind and respectful alongside following server rules. I believe I have made a fair share of mistakes over my time here but nothing that I haven’t worked to take into consideration and be better about. I may not be the best with being super involved, but when I am online I try to respond to everyone who may talk to me!
Why are you interested in the role and what motivated you to apply? Munchy’s probably the only server I’ve dedicated this much time to. I enjoy the ability to be able to contribute and enhance the experience for players, which I like to believe I have done with my time on the event roster. Gamemaker is all about building! I happen to enjoy building the most in terms of what you can do on Minecraft. I love seeing people’s skills, and helping out on stuff like that is enjoyable to me.
Out of 10 (with 10 being very knowledgeable), how would you rate your knowledge on moderating a community? I would consider myself an 8, because there’s always more to learn. Every community is different, with different needs. I know the baseline idea of moderation- keep things safe, keep things friendly, and help out with any issues that may come up regarding communication or conflict. I like to think I’m very good at playing a middle ground and keeping things calm. But knowing all the parts of the community is important too, which is always subject to change with every new player that joins. So it’s important to keep learning!
Out of 10 (with 10 being very knowledgeable), what would you rate your knowledge on MunchyMC’s GameMaker? Honesty is important, and I would have to give myself a lower number here, so I would say 5. I know a thing or two about building, design and making things smooth enough. I know a good amount about the unique world-edit commands that GameMaker has, but the custom coding like functions and such are a bit outlandish to me as of now, and I think the custom coding is probably the most important knowledge to have. But, like I said in my Co-Host application from last year, I am always willing to learn. I knew almost nothing of world-edit before, and now I know a good chunk thanks to my time as a Co-Host! I believe I can learn in time.
I wish luck to everyone else who has applied so far and will apply in the future- I see a lot of familiar faces and a lot of very good choices. Whoever gets an offer, I believe you’ll do fantastic. :D
