[Poll] Survival's underworld

Meow

Back on season 2, survival had a world called THE UNDERWORLD. This world was a part of the other extra world (Nether, End, Mining) but unlike these world, it would not reset just like the main one!

It’s a great world to make a living in, exploring and surviving in the nether without worrying of your temporary base being washed out, making farms to grind some nether ressources etc.

Due to its underuse, the world had to be ditched but what do you think about this? Would you want to see the underworld back?

I actually was talking about this to my wife the other day. Unfortunately due to the underuse I don’t really see it having much use at all. The only thing would be for any type of nether farms so they don’t reset but other than that there was very little use of it since it’s hard to traverse

This though was some years ago…

While yes, it was not really used, we could give it a shot again! The nether could be the place for people to have their bases in, which would be a new landscape people could live in. And yes, farms will be used there, that’s no doubt, but we have a good amount of new players so maybe they’ll have more interest playing in the underworld! :sunglasses:

Some things underworld could bring:

  • Build comps themed in the underworld
  • Mini games players could come up with
  • New landscape for builds & farms
  • Warps in the underworld (don’t know if it’s possible)

Yeah it’s something they can add but a lot of people dislike basing in the nether from the hazards, I feel it’s not gonna be used enough to be worth adding.

Yeah I agree with what most of the comments have said already… if it’s added it’ll probably only be used for either bases or XP farms. I don’t think it’s worth to add a entire dimension just for that.

It was removed for a reason and I don’t really see why there would be more use this season if I’m honest.

Meow, while I do appreciate everyone voting, I’d also love more reasons from people who are against the underworld~

As for my opinion, it’s already been stated but I’d love to talk a bit more about the useless issue of the Underworld.

Yes, it didn’t receive a lot of appreciations on season 2 but then again, it has been over 3 years, like ACTUAL 3 YEARS. Lots have changed on survival, new mechanics as for a new community that never cease to evolve. So while people didn’t fully use the underworld before wouldn’t 100% mean that the case will still apply. I personally will use the underworld now because it serves a purpose to me, some other newer players might too. And no matter how useless it can seem to people, it wasn’t at least 100% useless since some people used it so yeah…

I do get that having an extra world will consume ressources (don’t know how much though) that could be invested over other features, that’s what I would consider a fair reasoning to be against the underworld. But if it doesn’t cause an issue, with the confirmation of the dev team, then why not giving it a shot… Some people do not appreciate quests, people answer “Don"t play them”, some people dislike skills, again “Don’t grind them”. If it isn’t a huge burden to have the Underworld, I think we could at least try and see how it performs. And here again, you don’t have to use it.

Aside all this, there’s quite the amount of benefits from this that I’ve listed here~

Farms would be common in the underworld but it would provide us ressources that would be a hassle to farm considering the nether resets every 2 weeks, we could see lovely bases themed around the nether and maybe a build competition running in the underworld, we could have warps (that is a suggestion, I don’t know how possible it is…) etc

I do wanna believe that the underworld could be more used, maybe not used a 100% but at least by a fair amount of people, assuming everyone who voted yes would. :pensive:

From what I see, there is no real disadvantage to adding an underworld. Every argument against it either stated it has no use, or that it wasn’t used before. While these are possibly valid, I don’t see any reason saying it would be bad for the server.

Who cares if not every player uses a world. I haven’t even gone to the end this season, does this mean that it’s not useful and should be deleted? No, because even when people don’t use a world, they still benefit from them? Think of the shops that sell elytras and shulker shells. Even though I’ve never been to the end, I still benefit from an elytra.

How many times have you seen people want to use the nether for some type of building project, whether it’s a farm or a base? Probably not a lot. But it does happen. Why shouldn’t we have a claimable, permanent nether when people would use it, and when it wouldn’t be difficult to add?
Why is it that people are against things that seem to them as “useless” when others deem it needed? Sometimes it’s okay to have things that aren’t used often.

Nothing is ever really needed. If we were to go by things being unneeded, then lets get rid of all the skills, the extra world, the crates, the ranks, claims, and toggleable pvp. We can just stick with vanilla minecraft. See how long you’ll wanna play the server then.

TLDR: Stop using the reason of something being useless to you as a reason to not add something. It’s not a good reason against adding something, especially when it isn’t that hard to add something.

What really bugs me is the argument that it’ll only be used for farms or bases. Is that not the point of a claimable nether? By that logic, we should have no main world because people build farms there… I get the underused argument but like Candle said, that was season 2, which had a completely different playerbase, with different features. I don’t personally think it would be awful to at least test it out.

Edit: I’m immediately editing this because something I just realized is that it’s completely possible one of the reasons underworld went so underused in season 2 was because of how late it was introduced… by the time underworld was a feature the season was already about a year old, meaning people had already settled into their bases. Being able to introduce it early might give it a better chance of seeing more use.

Also personally I think the idea of an underworld build competition is cool. Season 2 also did have warps in the underworld (I know because I had one).

You guys are also forgetting that we have good mob spawning now, wither skeleton farms and other nether only farms would actually be good now

If there were permanent extra worlds, it likely wouldn’t be feasible to save them for the museum, which would strongly discourage building bases even more than it already is.
It seems like the worlds would only really be used for two purposes.

  1. XP farms (piglins / endermen)
  2. (potentially) nether hubs / highways

I think the XP farms are too powerful & easy to make to really want them in a permanent extra world. We’d also likely lose the ability to transport mobs from the mining world through the nether into the overworld.

I do like the idea from an operational perspective (easily automated extra world resets), but I’m not sure they would be beneficial overall. The demand also does not seem to be very strong.
