Unlike the newer structures, they are hard coded into the game and cannot be changed (easily) with the datapack. We will look into removing their gold in the future, but in the current update they will still spawn with gold.

ā¦but people have seen this as a new alternative to get gold. Donāt get me wrong, the main ways to get decent amounts of gold are shop & auctions, mining and gold farming. Looting for gold (naturally generated structures that contained gold) permitted people to get gold in another way, kinda like rewarding them for exploring the map. You do not get a crazy amount of gold from ruined portals, nor ocean temples.
You could evoke bastions but thatās actually one reason people were looking for them. The amount of gold you can get from them is decent yes but itās an actual challenge as to not everyone can just come and raid one bastion in two minutes. Survival needed more ways for people to make some sort of outcome and looting really helped even though maybe it wasnāt originally planned on staying.
I really canāt see this method being as worth as the other ones (mining / gold farms) so thereās genuinely not a lot of reasons to get rid of them.
We like to loot for gold, itās a new alternative and changes the play style of some members, please donāt take us that giftā¦

Gold enters the survival economy much faster than it leaves it, which leads to inflation. Taking gold out of the world generation is trying to counteract that. Otherwise, it becomes increasingly difficult for new players to find a footing in an incredibly inflated economy.

If we take inflation, survival season 4 barely has any increase of the item pricesā¦ the economy went below pretty much season 2 and 3. Things are cheaper, even a butterfly net can be estimated at 25.000 gold at max while its cost used to reach up to 50.000 gold. You will barely see any crate gadget that goes above 1000 gold, overall thereās been pretty much nothing but decreases of items prices, if you compare to other seasons (1 and 2).
It is completely fine to have counters for a gold economy inflation, but wouldnāt gold farms be the prior things to get a drastic nerf/change then? If we compare both ways of getting gold, we can all acknowledge the huge difference.

Kinda agree with both of you but all I needed was less then 100 gold trying to build a huge (16000) claim and while I gave up on building it cause claim blocks are slow to get I feel all those materials shouldnāt cost less then 100 gold. So I think gold should be worth more to materials but I like crate gadgets cheaper but not to cheap cause they should be valuable to win but too much value for something like rocket jump which is like almost useless would just be stupid.

Ok so I read it, and I completely agree that gold should be taken out of bastions. Now my reasoning for that might be weird and wacky but let me explain, RAIDING BASTIONS IS SOMEHOW MORE EFFICIENT THAN GOLD MINING!!! An example of this is the first month of this season, you had me along with my friends @Carloiscool and @iceylight mining almost everyday for 6+ hours, trying to achieve the goal of baltop 1, but our competition @P0IS0N who I believe was alone in his goal could spend probably around 6 hours everyday just bastion raiding, and him alone would make more than a 3 man constantly mining. Now tell me that isnāt broken af, at some point I was straight up convinced bro was duping. Like mining should always be the best money making method, like itās literally in the name of the game itself!
Now ig a solution to this all is to make gold a like 25% chance to spawn in a bastion, like make only 25% of the gold blocks into actual gold. And make the rest just diamond or something.

90ish% of my gold came from mining this season idk takes at least an hour or 2 to hit a shulker of gold but usually 4 for me. Anyways that normal equal up to about 3kish gold for me.
But when i went bastion hunting for brutes or discs (for quests) i did this with spider and after an hour we got like 2500g and split it it up about 1200g for each of us.
Bastions are a insane way to get a lot of gold fast i agree with scop although in my opinion they shouldāve kept the gold for the portals and maybe even the monuments.
Tdlr: bastions insane for gold gathering and glad it got replaced.

When we talk about inflation on survival we arenāt just talking about what people normally pay for items. The economy itself undergoes constant inflation because people are constantly aquiring gold that isnāt already circulating, usually by mining or looting.
This means that the amount of gold on the server goes up day-by-day as people keep playing. This eventually impacts the price of things. This season is only about 8 months old, and has probably at least another year until it ends, which means that there is a ton of time left that will have this steady increase of gold happening. In order to keep the game fun we control the speed at which gold enters the economy to try and mitigate the less fun aspects of the inflation and keep the map fun for everyone right up until the end.
Minecraft has been increasing ways to get gold from the environment in the past several updates and our choices are either to a) allow very fast, very excessive inflation b) change the currency we use for the economy or c) limit some of these new additions to keep things balanced. We do c because it makes the most sense to us

Technically there is also option d, which is to thanos snap a proportion of the gold out of the economy by taxing everyones (edit: except ratās) bals xD But something tells me that wouldnt exactly be popular
