I’ve been thinking why did map 3 and 4 die off so fast in comparison to map 1 and 2. I have brought this up to the staff several times but they never seem to listen to me, I feel having dura on rare picks turns away lots of people. From personal experience, it is annoying when you buy for example a sonic pick that has very bad dura for let’s say 800k, for it to only break after mining for like 10 minutes. It was nice when they added repair passes, however it was done poorly in my opinion. Having to spend 150k for a legendary repair pass, to only get tier one which repairs like 5% of the pick is a joke. Practically you are mining to just repair your pickaxe. Then blacksmith seemed like a good idea, but again repairing legendaries was not worth it. You needed to use around 3 good dura legendaries to repair your tool. It just doesn’t make sense.
I also believe that the mining rares have been terrible the last two maps. You practically make no money (other than resetti). I feel new mining rare picks and advantages need to be added (like peach crown). I find it crazy that map 4 has yet to have any rare that gives perm haste. Pacman helmet is practically a joke because it never works you end up only getting haste 1 or nothing. I feel the staff forgets that prison is also a mining server… Every update seems to add new rares that help with pvp but there are people (like myself) on the server that only mine. But we are left with terrible mining rares that loose dura instantly.
So I propose a few ideas for new rares:
*Add back a rare that gives times 2 XP (like han solo legs).
*Add a rare that gives PERM haste
*Add new picks that are actually good (like drill or force pick from map 2)
Other mining related ideas:
*Increase the number of mining events, events happen so infrequently that people lose interest to keep playing
*Add an achievement system so people have something to work for
*EDIT: Add back lore (or some NPC where you can buy a personal mining boost)

From my experience, the sonic pick loses durability pretty slowly if you use it only during rushes or for resettis. Also tier 1s from legendary repair passes repair 10% which isn’t too bad (tier 1 adds about 150 dura on a sonic/resetti which both have a max of around 1500 dura). Additionally, I do believe effort has been made to encourage more mining such as the peach helm and the golden grass event. However, the peach helm is very hard to obtain and the golden grass event can’t even compare to other mining events in terms of yields. I agree with you in the fact that money is hard to get especially as a new player. This is what most likely causes these new players to quit within the first week of playing. I feel that buffing certain ultras (such as pacman helmet), adding other ultras good for money making (like the dr. mario pick), or maybe decreasing the time between events would be a good step forward. I know that the wario pick/ms. pacman boots and the golden grass event help a lot early game for money but it might not be enough to retain players.
I agree, it is just so hard to be able to get a good mining pick as a starter player. Sonic pick is worth at minimum 800k, and the Dr. Mario pick is still so new that this costs almost 500k. I feel they need a pick that is common for people to have that are pointless for people who have played for a while so there is only demand for new players (ie. pulveriser in map two which x2 all drops).
I will say that everytime I’ve been on prison and you’ve asked me about the dura problem, you get upset when I disagree with you, so the staff ignoring you is false.
As for the ideas, I like them a lot. I still don’t like the idea of taking off dura because people would just stock up on items and eventually get bored, but creating items that are more suited for mining is a good idea and I’d be willing to compromise and have a mix of dura items and non-dura items. There are some items (like miner’s pic) that i feel shouldn’t have dura, but sonic should because of its rareness.
I’m not sure if you played map 1 and 2, but I feel people did not get bored having no dura, it gives them a reason to keep mining in my opinion. Second, you can already repair miner’s picks for only $500 which is extremely cheap and again miner’s picks won’t be able to get you 1-3 million dollars to rankup in A. So maybe as a compramise you could have dura on picks, but have a higher level of unbreaking so they don’t lose dura as fast.
I would be ok with that compromise. However, if we were to do that, I’d like to counterbalance it by making extremely rare pics have higher rarity in chests. Miners rely on chests inside prison and auctions more than going outside themselves, so I’d like to have a symbiotic relationship where miners are the money grinders and escapers are the finders and sellers.

Lately I have also thought about the serious problem with new players leaving prison before they even had the chance to explore the outside, all the different cell blocks and all the fun that Munchy prison has to offer. One of the big problems that I have thought about is also that it is too hard for new players to obtain money and rankup or just buy a rare pick in auction. Idk if it is just because OP prison are popular at the moment or…
The reason why I choose to quote this is because I thought maybe this could be 1 of the solutions to the problem with new players leaving. I thought that maybe if new player were given a good pick from the start they would be less likely to leave because it would be a bit less hard for them to rankup the first few ranks. I believe that x4 drops is a bit OP if combined with resetti… But what I think is important is that this new pick is a personal pick. If it were I who coded it I would do so that this pick was inventory bound but also had the rarity of Ultra.
This may seem a bit weird because why give it a ultra rarity if only new players can get it…
Well the reason why this is important is because they will then get a little taste of the ultra abilities and as we say: Once a vampire taste blood the first time, they just can’t stop
So all in all: Add a good pick to the starter kit that allow them to earn money and get a better chance at life. Make sure they get a taste of the rarity system that Munchy has!
I have mentioned this before but without any luck…
Maybe this could be another solution to the problems with new players unable to survive because their “daily income” is too low ;) By adding a good axe (such as chainsaw or thor axe to the starter set this would allow new players to earn their money from the log mine at spawn instead of going to the real mine and get killed during a lockdown or just by falling the entire way down… Could also be a solution…

I believe that the current rare picks are quite good…
I mean like the ultra picks such as wario and Bomb picks are not that expensive and you can earn a lot of money with those if you just use the ability…
For those lategame noobs such as myself I feel like Resetti is very useful every 10 min xD
If you then use resetti to mine the entire layer of diamonds, emeralds and coal ore that will make it close to the 10 min again…
Ofc sonic is also a good pick when there are events such as rainbow rush, diamond rush…
I feel like the events are happening quite often but idk…
Maybe change is so that a mining event happens after 15 min and then 15 min later a global event happens… Mining events: Rainbow rush, Diamond rush, Gold rush and Mining boost (Yeah I think a mining boost should be added to the random events that happens because this will also work as a trigger to all players who are saving up their event passes. This will also mean the new players will stay more online because events happens so often…)

I felt like ever since dura was added to rare items they have lost the “rare” touch that they once had… This topic about removing dura is quite often talked about both between players such as myself but also between admins and players… If I remember correctly then the “stock up on items” were quite well balanced in map 2 because of the ranks ULTRA and LEGENDARY which required a sacrifice of a full inventory of ultras(for ultra) and (I think) 12 legendary items (for legendary). These rank came after A4 instead of prestige…
Love the idea about a achievement system! Would work great as a goal for each player to aim for! Idk if it is just me but I thought it reminded me of one of the ideas in another post of mine xD The idea is not the same but I guess the point behind it is kinda the same! I guess smart guys thinks alike ;)

I love this post! My favorite idea is the suggestion of adding a mining boost/ultra boost (although you didn’t mention ultra boost) to occur with a random event. I feel this would be a great way to keep people mining. I also agree with what you mentioned about the rares in map 1 and 2 being fine. I feel there is quite a strong disagreement between the staff and players on dura like you said. I feel the staff should listen to the players because after all, they are the ones playing the server. I love the idea of a quest line. I also like the idea of a starting pick. Maybe to not make this to op, it could have for example unbreaking 10, but it could never get repaired, so it is only used for new players the start.
THANK YOU for finally addressing this (super long words, i’m fancy) I have noticed people are always saying that prison has gone downhill, or it doesn’t have any good things on it anymore. I feel like these suggestions will help improve the server <3
I don’t know what u are talking about when you say the staff don’t agree with you… I 100% agree with you. The mining ultras have definitely decreased in the efficiency as of the recent maps (3,4). At the end of map 3 they released the paradox items which really made mining fun again, however it was the end of the map so a lot of people had left by then. I agree that adding mining ultras that give you a significant boost definitely will make the game more fun and keep people around longer… As for the dura, I know that a lot of people have mixed feelings about it… ,however I have been thinking about suggesting this : When you find an ultra or legendary , you have a 75% chance of it having dura, however a 25% chance of it not being able to break… of course we could mess around with the percentages but this way it is harder to obtain an ultra that will never break, but not impossible like it is now. Thoughts?

If I remember correctly Season 1 was the only seasonSeason 1 and season 2 were the only seasons to not have durability on items, and I think it worked there because everyone was new. It would not be such a good solution now as the mature players would get bored very quickly if they had nothing to stop them endlessly mining.
I do, however, agree that having to spend a long time finding a tool for mining/mining to purchase one can end up being very dissatisfying for players and thus driving them away.
I think new items specifically for mining would be good - perhaps a pick that gains durability when a rare ore is mined, or a pic that distributes incrementing durability between all your items randomly with each consecutive ore you mine (might be hard to do but it would mean you could combo pics together whilst mining).
There are lots of other solutions than just removing durability that in my opinion work a lot better. I do agree that something needs to be done, though.
