Let ranked players keep their keep inventory

There was no official announcement regarding changes to a purchasable rank system that’s been recognized over 4 years and it could have been avoided with community-based polls, voting, or idea-implementing suggestion systems? Man if only someone had suggested a group to directly be representatives of the respective communities like a “council” of some sort to provide suggestions, analytics, and overall communicate topics towards staff instead of the usual tyranny styled “oversight” that’s been implemented for so long now… :eyes:

We want to clarify that the addition of this feature was not intended as a “money grab” or to be “scummy.” Our goal was to balance overly powerful features while still providing good benefits to those who had the ranks beforehand. Adjustments to paid products are common in the gaming industry.

Regarding the flight nerfs, we carefully considered community feedback from forum posts and discussions. Based on this input, we determined that this was the best way to achieve balance, as it seemed that most players wanted it to be adjusted. We understand the strong reactions, but please remember that everything in the post is subject to change.

but when did you literally ever ask the community…?
ever thought of a poll on removing keepinv or nah :skull:

If it’s not meant to be a ‘money grab’ or ‘scummy,’ or if players don’t agree with these adjusted features, then why aren’t refunds allowed?

LMAO YOU REMEMBER ME THAT ONE TOPIC ABOUT IT…

As I mentioned earlier, everything announced is subject to change. We are carefully reviewing everyone’s feedback on the forums and will make decisions based on the collective input.

Could you refer some community forum posts or discussions regarding the need for nerfs towards the rank systems? It would be valuable to see the original foundations for why these changes are being implemented, considering the complete contrasted opinions in this specific feedback discussion.

I understand that it’s subject to change. I’m just making sure you understand the changes you’re considering.

While i agree that losing keepinv and inconveniencing /fly arent by any means something exactly ground breaking, i think your take is also a little weird?
yeah, ranks arent expensive per se, if youre a working adult ect. but paying for a promised perk and having it taken away still feels scummy?
it may not be important to you, or a lot of players, but saying to stop complaining because its ‘not big enough of a problem’ seems weird to me (also “stop acting like children” as if that isnt the main demographic is hilarious)

anyway, i already retired sooo… im just here for the drama, so to say

If you bought a rank before the change was implemented it contradicts the “ilegallity” that you’re refering to. The product (rank) was bought & used before they made this change.

It doesn’t even cost real money, but a digital currency that you can earn without paying anything.

I do believe it’s a horrible marketing strategy because, as mentioned earlier they just lower the perks of a service by earning nothing and sacrificing your monetary benefit and facing a future drop in the sales. Idiotic but not illegal.

As someone who has been very involved in running the gamemode but not at all involved in planning the season 5 updates, I think there are a few bits of info that people here are missing.

Changes to paid perks are guaranteed to be controversial and always have sparked discussions like this in the past, with good reason! I know that Cheater and Ross are definitely taking all of the additional feedback on board and considering if any adaptations need to be made.

First bit of info is that for the most part, all the ranked perks on survival are from 2018 when the gamemode first released and they may not have been the best long-term choices. A lot has changed since then and it makes sense to continue to update the perks. They can’t be untouchable just because people paid for them, that doesn’t make any sense! Its a balancing act between keeping them fair and keeping their value, but they will continue to change over time and we will continue to try our best to make that balance good.

Second bit of info is that people often misunderstand how the admin/server management team stuff works on Munchy. We’re not an organised game dev studio, we’re a bunch of (mostly) volunteers who just enjoy the server and make cool stuff for it in our spare time. The devs get paid but there is no guarantee that admins do, and definitely not in a way that is proportional to the server’s profits. There is absolutely zero chance that Ross and Cheater made any of the decisions about the new updates with profit in mind (other than keeping in mind that it needs at least some income to stay online xD). They are working with the goal of making the gamemode as fun and balanced as possible. Calling it a money grab or a scam is pretty unfair on them, but also very inaccurate.

I think its also worth keeping in mind that there have been some feedback conversations that were just as heated about the paid perks being OP. We’ve been slowly improving things over the years and will continue to do so, but not every decision is flawless or without valid criticism. Feedback is important and tweaks are important.

Paid perks are a bit of a minefield and people have strong opinions on it, but please keep in mind that the people who are making the decisions are essentially very invested players and not some marketing department or finance-savvy team!

While what you’re saying is valid, and it is unfair to place a lot of this blame or heat towards administrators or moderators when it is the dev team making the respective executive decisions, I still have another question. It is stated in the Tebex Terms and Conditions under section 13 Labeled “Further Rights”, that “As a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to Products that are faulty, not as described or not provided with reasonable skill and care.” While it is understandable that there needs to be occassional updates for the sake of balance and overall long-term health of the server, I believe that the long-term health of the community as a
whole should be taken into account as well. Shouldn’t there be relevant and sufficient compensation provided for customers who have previously purchased the rank and are unsatisfied with the changes made, considering there are no applicable refunds? Shouldn’t the head of management and MunchyMC Developer Team consider potential options to alleviate the disatisfaction or lack of “reasonable skill and care” as the terms and conditions state? Clearly there needs to be more attention towards the overall feedback given by the community, and I think there needs to be more discussions like these regarding what the community wants and needs, rather than implementing these changes executively and telling the community after.

It isnt the dev team making decisions, cheater and Ross planned this new season together with help from the rest of the team. What I was saying is that everyone is just ordinary humans trying their best to make a good update for people to play and that its important to remember that its not as “professional” as it may appear.
You can tell them you think its a terrible idea and you hate it, but calling it a scam or money grab or whatever is meh

We can misjudge stuff, this is a good opportunity for feedback, give your feedback (especially if you actually intend to play) and have a productive conversation. We’ve always been decent at listening to feedback from the survival community, it’ll be the same now.

May we please have a link to the post that was allegedly named that showed the community polls? I see no reason why the request is unreasonable.
Edit: Found it! Survival Season 4 Feedback Polls
In my opinion none of these results indicate that things should have gone this far as far as making such huge changes. Take a look if you want.

If you offer refunds or bring back keep inventory for them it’s a positive fix for everyone!

Yes we get that but this got straight up removed and it was the primary reason a lot of people bought the rank, also no one got anything back from this being removed? We aren’t angry at the people on the dev team just some people are at this decision but thanks for clearing this up ibby! That actually was a clear explanation so thanks.

It still kind of is a money grab intended or not, we are just alerting you all that it is

I’d like to say… we shouldn’t say the perk got removed. Keep inventory has been lightened and made accessible for everyone. So it’s not gone, just less effective than it used to be!

It got removed. It is gone. They have a new system but it isn’t keep inventory. You don’t keep your inventory after dying unless you pay gold.

So it literally isn’t gone as I said. It’s been nerfed. If we were to consider it as fully removed, there wouldn’t be any ways for legend players to have keep inventory, which there is a way, not convenient for most of people, but is a way (plus the discount). :person_shrugging:

The perk isn’t as efficient as it used to be but it would be wrong saying there isn’t any compensation. The discount is. So sure, keep inventory has been nerfed and put on a similar line for everyone, no matter the rank, the advantage is that it’s easier to access for Legend ranks!

Imo, the discount is a joke. We paid REAL money for keep inventory already why do we have to keep paying for it. I am aware it’s not real money that we are going to be paying but it still is payment for something we already bought and it’s extremely stupid. I mean 30%? You wanna make it make sense? Then make it free for elite / legend forever or have the discount be better like 80 or 90. That’s just my thoughts though… and if you think my point is stupid, then go look at the polls and come back to me. Because those results speak volumes. Almost all the polls had the top result of “I like this the way it is or it’s perfect!” For the polls that had those options. You guys aren’t as good at listening to community feedback as you claim to be.
